Heading out from Clermont is all coal mines and coal trains that go on forever. Some it seems go into Townsville and many more into Rockhampton or Mackay, all big ports. We stayed in Rockhampton once before and it wasn’t good with trains shunting all the time. But we were keen to see friends in Zilzie!! So we stayed at Emu Park which is on the coast about 50 km from Rockhampton.
Ron had been in hospital for a couple of days but managed to get home before we left so we have a great time with him and Deb and thanks for the great meal AND the wonderful fresh veg that they grow in their garden.
Emu point is one of those sea side towns where people go year after year to the same spot in the caravan park. It is a rugged coast but you can see so many islands from the shore.
There is a really wonderful structure called the “singing ship” in honour of Captain James Cook. It is built on a series of pipes and when the wind whistles through it certainly does sing.
