Down the coast nearly to Carnarvon you turn off to Quobba. ‘No you can’t use it in Scrabble’ This was great partly because the weather was so good. On the way in you past extensive salt mining. There is camping right along the foreshore for a few kms. and we were only a few metres from the water.
There is an ohhhhhhhh wow coast line where the waves are high and exciting. The water pounds on flats along the rock ledges and runs back out to sea forming high water falls. There is also a major blow hole that roars as it fills and blows metres up into the air but there are also a lot of other smaller blow holes and we sat and watched them for a long time. The tide here is often less than a metre so the fun goes on through low and high tides.

You can also visit the HMAS Sydney memorial which is only 80 nautical miles from where it went down. There is also a very protected area where you can feed the fish – an amazing array of colours and breads. Quobba is well worth a visit!
