Spent a day going to Cameron Corner. I should have learnt by now not to put too many expectations into these man made geographical places. And what a disappointment it turned out to be. 140 km by the main road and here you see eagles and kangaroos along with emus and plenty of other wild life although the road is very corrugated and wouldn’t have been good for the van. Some planners just ‘don’t get it’ and who ever planned the corner sure missed the boat. There is a great thick pylon to mark the actual corner but basically impossible to be in all 3 states at once. To me that was the fun I was looking forward to. The pic. shows me ‘sort of’ doing it but they could have made it much more interesting and entertaining. We came back though the Sturt National Park and what a minus that was. What we did see were lots of nests and I suspect the bigger birds in particular nest in the park but go out and eat the road kill on the other road to survive. The NP itself didn’t seem to have any echo systems working for it at all – hardly a bird in site. We did see a few kangaroos and a heard of goats – in a NP!!!!!! But little else.
